Space NK celebrates grand opening of new store in Exeter
Beauty enthusiasts in Exeter have a new destination for their favourite skincare and cosmetic brands as Space NK officially opened its doors in the Princesshay Shopping Centre yesterday.
The highly anticipated store, located between L’Occitane and New Look, marks the luxury retailer’s first branch in Devon, further expanding its footprint across the UK.
The new store occupies a space previously held by Menkind, which closed in June after the unit underwent significant refurbishment to prepare for Space NK’s arrival. The Exeter branch joins over 70 other Space NK stores across the UK, continuing the company’s legacy since its founding in 1991 by Nicky Kinnaird.
Originally launched in Covent Garden in 1993, Space NK has evolved from selling smoothies and independent fashion to becoming a haven for hard-to-find beauty brands and cult favourites.
Space NK’s Exeter store officially opened at 10am on Saturday, August 31st, and was met with excitement from the local community. “We’re thrilled to bring Space NK to Exeter,” a spokesperson for the brand said. “The real queens of beauty have arrived, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our new home in the Princesshay Shopping Centre.”
This opening is part of a wave of recent expansions for Space NK. The company has been rapidly growing its presence across the UK and Ireland, with recent store openings in Kingston’s Bentalls Shopping Centre in May, Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin in June, and the Arndale Centre in Manchester in July. Additionally, the Covent Garden store, Space NK’s original location, received a much-needed makeover earlier this summer.
Despite its UK-focused expansion, Space NK has also made significant moves in the international market. In June, the company sold its US wholesale business to The PCA Companies, a global distribution giant in the beauty and wellness sector.
With 800 staff and a robust portfolio of over 70 stores, Space NK’s continued growth showcases its commitment to bringing top-tier beauty products to consumers across the globe. The new Exeter store is expected to be a key part of that strategy, offering local customers a luxurious shopping experience right in the heart of the city.
