Smashbox to exit UK market

Cosmetics brand Smashbox is to exit its UK and Ireland market later this year following numerous challenges.

Founded in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s by brothers Dean and Davis Factor, the grandsons of famous make-up artist Max Factor. the company was acquired by Estee Lauder in 2010.

In a statement on its Twitter feed, Smashbox said: “An accumulation of challenges has sadly been more than our business can withstand and we’ve had to make the heart-breaking decision to no longer accept orders in the UK and Ireland beginning 29 September 2022. We’ve loved being part of your creativity and expression and are forever grateful.”

The company has now stopped the sale of gift cards and will only honour existing gift card balances until 29 September.
