Poundland launches own-brand skincare range

Poundland has launched an own-brand £1 skincare range called #6 as it looks to benefit from a predicted uplift in skincare spending over the next five years.

From today, the retailer is offering a six-piece skincare collection that includes an anti-ageing day cream, a night cream and cleansing water, as well as an eye cream, derma serum and a collagen filler.

Poundland said the products contain ingredients such as collagen, hyaluronic, ceramide, vitamins A & E, sweet almond oil and algae extract, and are in gentle formulations suitable for all skin types.

The move follows research by GlobalData that predicts the beauty market is set to reach £26.7 billion by 2022.

To put the #6 range to the test, Poundland previewed products on unsuspecting members of the public.

Holly Mobley, Poundland’s head of glamour, said: “Everyone wants to look good for less, and we spent a long time ironing out the wrinkles to develop a fantastic skincare range to fit all budgets. We set out to challenge expectations, we want customers to feel like they are buying a bit of luxury without breaking the bank and are confident #6 hits the mark for beauty addicts and skincare novices alike.”
