Naturally Tiwa Skincare achieves B Corp certification, redefining industry standards

Naturally Tiwa Skincare, a proudly British female-owned brand with a distinct focus on skin conditions, proudly announces its official certification as a B Corporation (B Corp).

The company, renowned for embodying ‘Purpose, Impact, and Innovation’ at its core, joins an esteemed cohort of businesses committed to reshaping the business landscape by prioritising purpose alongside profit.

B Lab, the non-profit organisation steering the B Corp movement, has certified Naturally Tiwa Skincare as meeting stringent social and environmental benchmarks, illustrating its dedication to objectives beyond shareholder profit. The B Corp certification comprehensively assesses a company’s operations across five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers.

Achieving a benchmark score exceeding 80, Naturally Tiwa Skincare has substantiated its commitment through evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices. These encompass aspects such as energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency. To formalise this commitment, the company will legally embed its dedication to purpose beyond profit in its company articles.

Joining a global community of over 7,000 B Corps, Naturally Tiwa Skincare is now part of a dynamic network that includes well-established brands like innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop, and Abel & Cole. In the UK alone, the B Corp community, spanning diverse industries and sizes, boasts over 2,000 companies.

Against the backdrop of increasing scrutiny on the cosmetics industry, Naturally Tiwa Skincare’s B Corp certification assumes heightened significance, symbolising a notable stride towards enhanced accountability and transparency in the sector.

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, expresses enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Naturally Tiwa Skincare to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies committed to changing how business operates and believing that business can be a force for good. Naturally Tiwa Skincare will undoubtedly be a fantastic addition to the community, continuing to propel the conversation forward.”

Hannah White, Head of Operations and Marketing at Naturally Tiwa Skincare commented, “It has been an incredibly challenging and rigorous process particularly for a small company. However, attaining B Corp certification makes it all worthwhile. We are incredibly proud to be one of the 20 women owned Skincare B Corps certified in the UK, currently the only certified black female owned UK skincare brand – we are truly proud to be a brand that is founded by, made by and led by women but suitable for all.”
