Natura & Co considers sale of The Body Shop
Brazil’s Natura & Co has announced that it has authorised its board of directors and management to explore “strategic alternatives” for The Body Shop.
The move could include a potential sale of the skincare and cosmetics business.
Natura & Co, which also owns Avon, acquired the UK brand from L’Oreal in 2017. The Body Shop has been struggling recently with sales declining over numerous quarters.
Founded in 1976 by the late environmental and human rights campaigner Anita Roddick, The Body Shop currently has almost 3,000 stores in 70 countries.
Earlier this year, Natura & Co sold its Aesop luxury skincare brand to L’Oréal in a $2.5 billion deal. At the time, the group said the sale would free up resources for its strategic priorities.
