Mamas & Papas enjoys strong Christmas sales
Nursery and childrenswear retailer Mamas & Papas grew sales by almost a third in the run-up to Christmas, supporting a turnaround in the retailer’s results for the year.
Huddersfield headquartered Mamas & Papas enjoyed a sales increase of 30 per cent for the 8 weeks to 26 December over the same period in 2020 and up by 35 per cent for the year prior. For the year ended 28 March 2021, the business generated revenues of £93.1m with EBITDA of £4.75m
The business which operates from 22 of its own stores as well as online, said that its online business had made a strong contribution and that its new concessions with Next were trading strongly.
Mark Saunders, chief executive at Mamas & Papas, said: “We’re delighted with the performance of the business, both over a busy Christmas period and what’s been a landmark financial year to date. There’s real momentum across the business, which is the culmination of a lot of hard work optimising our product ranges, customer service, store operations, property estate, online business and international presence.
“I’m particularly proud of our colleagues who’ve worked tirelessly, often in challenging circumstances. Our success is, in large part, down to their efforts and enthusiasm.
“We’ve also been supported by a large and loyal customer base, which continues to expand as we welcome more new and expectant parents into the Mamas & Papas family.
“With more Next concessions planned for the coming year and more new product and service innovations, we’re hugely excited about the prospects for the coming year.”
