Hawkins & Brimble set for international expansion
Men’s skincare brand Hawkins & Brimble is to expand into new international markets
The company will enter the US, China, Australia and the Middle East. It will also develop a range of new products, all of which will be made in the UK.
The expansion is being made possible due a £1.3 million finance package from HSBC UK and a private investor.
Hawkins & Brimble was founded by Stephen Shortt in 2106 after he noticed a lack of affordable yet sophisticated natural skincare products for men with sensitive skin.
The company said the venture will increase its turnover from £3 million to £5 million in the next 12 months.
Shortt said: “Following the success of the launch of the business in the UK, I saw fantastic potential in the global market and have been delighted to receive the backing of HSBC UK. As a result, the company is set to show very impressive growth this year.”
David Butler, HSBC UK business banking director for Bristol, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire, added: “Hawkins & Brimble is an inspiring British brand which has tapped into growing demand for men’s grooming products. We’re looking forward to watching the brand continue to go from strength-to-strength as it expands globally.”
Hawkins & Brimble sells its products through its own website and in over 3,000 UK stores.
The funding package from HSBC UK came from the bank’s £550 million SME Fund. This supports SMEs across Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
