Glossier founder steps down as chief executive
Glossier founder Emily Weiss is stepping down as chief executive and will be succeeded by Kyle Leahy.
In a posting on the cosmetics company’s blog, Weiss said she met Leahy a year ago when appointing her as chief commercial officer of the business. Prior to joining Glossier, Leahy worked with Cole Haan for over nine years and also held a senior analyst role at Nike.
Weiss said Leahy has brought proven experience of leading large business transformations to the company. She added: “From building omnichannel marketplace strategy at Nike, to leading the reinvention and acceleration of Cole Haan, to driving digital innovation at American Express, Kyle has spent her career setting strategy and aligning operational execution to build enterprise value and maximise brand potential.”
Weiss will now become executive chair of the business whilst working closely with Leahy and Glossier’s board.
She added: “With this CEO evolution, I’ll be able to focus more of my time as I did in the earlier days—supporting our brilliant leaders of creative, brand, product and retail, as they take our customer experience innovation to new heights.”
Weiss has been chief executive of the company since it was founded in 2014.
