Cloud Nine appoints first external chief executive
Hair and beauty brand Cloud Nine has appointed Danny Emmett as its first external chief executive.
The company has also announced that brothers Martin and Gavin Rae, who founded the business in 2009 with professional hairdresser Robert Powls, will now become non-executive chairman and non-executive director respectively.
Emmett was previously group chief operating officer at online electricals and appliance retailer AO where he worked for almost 15 years.
Based in Harrogate, Cloud Nine’s last set of accounts show sales of circa £35 million, which were achieved through a combination of UK success and significant growth in Australia and New Zealand.
The company is aiming to almost double in size by 2027 and is also exploring expansion into new territories.
Martin Rae, who was named as the Sunday Times’ Most Ambitious Business Leader for 2022, said: “Gavin and I are very much looking forward to taking on our new roles in the business – one which we have loved building – whilst handing over the day-to-day responsibility to Danny as our new CEO.
“We are very proud of everything we have achieved and are very excited about Danny’s arrival. He brings with him a wealth of digital knowledge and of growing businesses and is very commercially driven.”
