Boots to temporarily close beauty and fragrance counters

Boots has announced that staff working on its in-store beauty counters will not be required to go to work throughout the Covid-19 crisis, although they will be encouraged to switch to working with the retailer’s healthcare department.

It has also confirmed that most of its Boots Opticians and Hearingcare stores will temporarily close. The small number that will remain open will offer services for people with essential eye and hearing care needs.

Seb James, managing director of Boots UK, said: “Boots has a unique role to play during this time, and our duty and focus is to ensure that pharmacy, healthcare and a wide range of the essential products that we sell are available to those who need them.

“Every day I am hearing and seeing heroic stories of the way in which our colleagues and stores are responding, helping, advising and reassuring people in every corner of the UK. I know that Boots colleagues are doing everything they can to support this effort.”
