Top tips for entering the JEDI Award 2024

Are you ready to showcase your commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in the retail sector?

Consider entering the 2024 Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Award and let your efforts shine!

Firstly, we understand the challenges that come with fostering JEDI excellence and we appreciate that it’s a continuous journey. The JEDI Award aims to recognise and celebrate organisations actively working towards creating a more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive retail environment. We applaud progress, dedication, and measurable improvements as retailers strive to make a positive impact in their workplaces and communities.

Here are some top tips to elevate your entry:

Commitment to change:

  • Clearly outline your dedication to fostering justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within your retail organisation.
  • Provide evidence of ongoing efforts and initiatives that demonstrate a long-term commitment.

Progressive initiatives:

  • Highlight innovative and effective JEDI programs, campaigns, or policies that have positively impacted employees and communities.
  • Highlight creativity and uniqueness in your approach to diversity and inclusion.

Measurable impact:

  • Use data to illustrate the tangible outcomes of your initiatives, such as increased diversity in hiring, improved workplace culture, or positive effects on the community.
  • Provide testimonials or stories that showcase the real-world impact of your efforts.

Already inspired to illustrate your organisation’s commitment to JEDI?
Then why not also consider putting your team forward for other recognitions- like Community Engagement of the Year or Spirit of Excellence Awards? Your wholehearted commitment deserves to be celebrated!.

We can’t wait to receive your entry.

Deadline: 1st May, 2024. To find out more, visit The People in Retail Awards 2024.

A mention of the 2023 Winner: AF Blakemore

Food retail, wholesale and distribution company AF Blakemore won the 2023 Diversity Award for People in Retail with their “Women in Blakemore Awards” initiative. The program recognised diversity and inclusivity across six categories, involving over 7,000 employee nominations. Winners’ stories were compiled into a storybook, “Women in Blakemore Supportive Short Stories” to inspire others. The initiative, driven by the company’s commitment to equality, focused on gender representation and featured categories like Outstanding Female Influencer and Outstanding Male Supporter. Despite the challenge of engaging employees across 300 sites, the initiative successfully rolled out through collaboration between HR and marketing teams. The storybook format added a personal touch, making it the company’s most successful event of its kind to date.
