Santa-approved Mince Pies free in Liverpool’s Christmas giveaway

Thousands of mince pies are being handed out for free today in Liverpool, thanks to a first-of-its-kind mince pie vending machine.

The world’s first mince pie vending machine is situated outside Iceland’s Liverpool store in Williamson Square. This unique installation celebrates Iceland Foods’ mince pies as the first, and only, ones to receive Santa’s official seal of approval.

According to Iceland’s sales data, Liverpool reigns as the mince pie capital of the UK, consuming more of these festive treats than any other city. This was evident this morning when hundreds of eager residents queued to grab their complimentary mince pies.

Iceland revealed that the giant installation was inspired by research indicating that nearly a third of Brits wished for a vending machine capable of dispensing mince pies on demand.

Furthermore, the supermarket’s research found that 50% of the population plans to leave a mince pie out for Father Christmas this year. Generosity abounds, with 19% planning to leave two pies, and an additional 11% admitting they’ll be setting out three or more sweet treats for the big man himself.

Beyond traditional mince pies, shoppers can indulge in alternative versions, including cheesy Cathedral City Mince Pies, Caramel Crumble Mince Pies, and Chocolate Caramel Crumble Mince Pies.

Adding to the festive excitement, Iceland is giving shoppers the chance to win mystery £10 vouchers alongside their free mince pies. One lucky individual will even win their entire Christmas shop worth £250, making the giveaway even sweeter. *Terms and conditions apply.

Paul Dhaliwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Iceland Foods, said:
“The people of Liverpool have spoken, and we thought they deserved some festive cheer in the form of free mince pies from the world’s first mince pie vending machine!

“At Iceland, we truly believe it is the most wonderful time of the year, and we’re delighted to bring some Christmas magic to the city this December.”

In a recently revealed video, a selection of Santa’s most trusted helpers were seen rigorously testing and deliberating over hundreds of mince pies. Their verdict crowned Iceland’s mince pies as the only ones officially ‘approved by Santa’ this year.
