Asda’s George hires Karl Doyle as vice president

Karl Doyle, the former executive group commercial director at Reiss, has been appointed vice president of Asda’s clothing and home brand George.

Doyle, who moved to Asda earlier this month, brings with him over 30 years of experience working at a senior level in a variety of roles with some of the UK’s largest retailers. He has also worked as an ambassador for The Retail Trust.

Doyle was executive group commercial director at Reiss, a position which he held between 2017 and October 2021. Prior to this he was executive group product director at Mothercare for three years, having held the same role at the Very Group. He also spent eight years as trading director at Marks & Spencer and was head of merchandising at Next.

Rose possesses a wealth of retail and business experience, having been a chair, board director and chief executive of many of the UK’s biggest retailers, including Marks & Spencer.

The supermarket also announced a raft of senior appointments at the start of the year, with Nisa‘s chief executive Ken Towle joining as retail director and Lord Stuart Rose appointed to the board of directors as chairman in December 2021.
