Wyevale sells garden centre to Hillier

Wyevale is to sell its John Browns Garden Centre to Hillier Garden Centres.

The transaction follows Hillier’s acquisition of four Wyevale centres  in April.

The site will continue to be run as a garden centre following the sale, which is expected to complete by the end of September.

Anthony Jones, chief operating officer of Wyevale Garden Centres, said: “I am very pleased that John Browns will continue to be operated as a garden centre, and by an operator that we now know well thanks to having sold centres to Hillier over the last year.”

The acquisition will take Hillier’s portfolio of garden centres to 17.

Chris Francis, retail and wholesale director of Hillier, said: “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of John Browns Garden Centre, joining the Hillier family business.”

Wyevale has also announced that its leasehold  Thatcham Garden Centre will close in September. The freehold and leasehold interest have been acquired by the site’s current landlord who has asked for vacant possession.
