Wyevale pushes on with retail review

Consultants working with garden centre retailer
Wyevale Garden Centres has confirmed the appointment of management consultants Eden McCallum as it continues to review the business.

Wyevale, which last month reported group sales for the 16 weeks to April 24 up by 13.3 per cent, with like-for-likes up 11 per cent, said that its trading performance continues to be strong, with newly redeveloped garden centres outperforming the rest of the group.
David Williams, chairman, said: “We have appointed Eden McCallum to further build on the retail initiatives implemented so far and we are confident that their review will help us drive sales and profit densities in existing garden centres, which in turn will enhance our return on capital.
“This will be achieved by improving our retail formats, ranges and overall retail capability. We are excited about the market, our prospects to further grow our market share and the expected improvement in future retail performance.”
He added that property consultants Strutt & Parker “are progressing well with the property review which will inform us of both existing values within the portfolio as well as any future alternative value that might exist.”
A full update on the review will be made by September, when Wyevale will announce its interim results.
