Would you like to help preserve marine life and also support kidney cancer research?
Solo Pacific Row will see Daryl Farmer attempt to cross 2,400 miles of ocean single-handed
No engine, no sails, just one man, one boat, two oars and a passion to protect our oceans and the beautiful but threatened life within them and also to raise awareness of the early symptoms of kidney cancer.
The race will start in June 2014 from Monterey Bay, CA (around 90 miles south of San Francisco) and finish in Hawaii. Covering approximately 2,400 miles of open ocean by the most direct route, although wind and currents may increase that distance considerably! It has been estimated by the organisers that a single crew will take between 45-90 days to complete the race.
38 year-old Daryl will be completely self-sufficient and his boat will be his survival cell for the duration of the race. The boat, ‘Bojangles’, is made of carbon/kevlar foam sandwich construction and is one of the only boats out there which was built specifically with the Pacific in mind.
Never Miss a Retail Update! The motivation and goal for Daryl is two fold; to continue his fight to bring publicity and awareness so our planet’s life support system gets the respect it deserves, and also to bring awareness to spotting, and acting on, the early signs of kidney cancer so that other families may be spared the heart break of losing a loved one. He lost his mother to kidney cancer In June 2012.
Please support this expedition in any way you can, sponsorship, donations, awareness spreading, or whatever you can do – be a part of the team and join the adventure!
