Work begins on M&S relocation at White Rose Shopping Centre

Work has begun on the relocation of Marks & Spencer’s Leeds store into a new 80,000 square foot anchor location within the White Rose Centre.

Designed by The Harris Partnership, the store on a site previously occupied by Debenhams will feature a new full height glazed entrance. ESH Construction has been appointed as the main contractor.

The shop will include a 15,000 square foot M&S Foodhall, as well as a cafe and womenswear, lingerie, beauty, childrenswear, menswear and home departments.

The Harris Partnership has a longstanding relationship with the White Rose Shopping Centre and was responsible for the design of the centre’s £13.7 million leisure extension in 2016.

Daniel Broadhead at The Harris Partnership said: “The White Rose Shopping Centre is integral to the retail offering in Leeds and our existing relationship allows us to understand and interpret exactly what is required to remain sympathetic to the existing design yet create an exciting new store.”
