Wilko re-opens at The Mall Luton
Wilko has re-opened its doors at The Mall Luton just in time for Christmas.
The news follows The Range’s acquisition of the retailer’s name and intellectual property after it entered administration in August.
The store was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Councillor Zanib Raja and Wilko chief executive Chris Dawson.
A quarter of the store staff are ex-employees who have re-joined under the new owners.
Roy Greening, centre director at The Mall, Luton said: “We were so happy to see the doors open once again and the return of many loyal staff. Seeing the hoards of customers seeking out their favourite products was a joy – some had been waiting patiently since 6am! We knew the wilko store had a strong local customer base and its popularity was clear to see on Friday.
“We were also excited to have a visit from Olivia, the Dulux dog. Wilko have installed a paint mixing station upstairs in the store and having Olivia here to celebrate was just the icing on the cake.
“The re-opening of Wilko, along with the new Starbucks which opened recently, are welcome additions to the Christmas shopping experience here at the centre.”
The Mall Luton is home to over 150 retailers including H&M, TK Maxx, Boots, Primark, Wilko and JD Sports
