Wilko becomes headline sponsor of the Great British Spring Clean
Wilko has become the headline sponsor for the mass-action environmental campaign, the Great British Spring Clean.
The retailer has pledged to help get 500,000 people cleaning up the UK’s streets, parks and beaches between 22 March and 23 April.
Andrew Moore, Wilko chief commercial officer, said: “We know that the environment on their doorstep matters to people, which is why we chose to support Keep Britain Tidy through our carrier bag charge donations.
“The funding doesn’t just back this incredible campaign, it also supports projects which transform green spaces and those which give schools a helping hand, educating children and young people about how they can make a difference to the environment, for example how their school can better manage waste by reducing, reusing and recycling.”
As part of its commitment, the retailer will be stocking its stores with items such as litter-pickers, bags, high-vis vests and hand sanitisers. Moore added: “We want to pitch in on a practical level, too, which is why we’ve made sure team members from all of our stores can take part in a clean-up through our funded volunteering programme.”
Wilko is also sponsoring the Great Big School Clean again this year.
Keep Britain Tidy chief executive Allison Ogden-Newton said: “We are delighted that Wilko are again supporting the Great British Spring Clean and the Great Big School Clean, and thankful for the support and dedication they have shown in bringing this campaign to their staff and customers.”
