Wiggle makes changes to senior marketing team
Wiggle, the cycle and trisports retailer, has announced a number of changes and additions to its senior marketing team.
Harvey Bennett will join Wiggle in a new role of chief marketing and sales officer where he will be responsible for building the Wiggle brand and for Wiggle’s digital ‘shop-window’ and growth in key UK and European markets.
Due to take up his new position in September, Bennett will join Wiggle from Amazon where he is currently director of UK health & beauty. Prior to Amazon, he was head of multichannel and marketing planning at Homebase.
Adam Ryan, who was previously Wiggle’s head of brand, has been promoted to head of group sales and events and will report to Bennett. He will be responsible for UK and European country development as well as the delivery and expansion of Wiggle’s event portfolio.
Jo Taylor, previously a brand consultant with Liz Earle, Elemis and FatFace, will join Wiggle as brand marketing manager, again reporting to Bennett. Her remit will include global brand development and marketing activation.
Meanwhile, former USA Olympic cyclist and Wiggle’s director of international sales and group pricing, Derek Bouchard-Hall, will leave the business on 12 June to take up his “dream” job as chief executive of USA Cycling.
The changes have been led by Rachel Moffatt, Wiggle’s interim marketing director who was asked conduct a full review of the company’s marketing when she was appointed in April 2014. She has also overseen the introduction of a new brand identity and communications strategy as well as increasing marketing investment and strengthening the internal marketing team.
Stefan Barden, Wiggle chief executive, said: “Over the past 18 months we have taken No.1 position in the UK cycling and tri-sports market, and continue to add customers at record levels. With her remit complete, Rachel will be moving on after a handover to Harvey. Similarly Derek will leave us for the USA and remain a valuable contact. We wish them both the best of luck. Adam and Jo, under Harvey’s leadership, will continue to drive our business forward to new levels, and we welcome them all to their new roles.”
