Wickes launches charity trade-in scheme
Wickes, the Travis Perkins owned DIY retailer, has launched a charity tool trade-in scheme this week across its UK stores.
Called ‘TradeIn’, the scheme is the first of its kind for the retailer and offers shoppers the opportunity to hand in their old tools for recycling in exchange for a 20% discount off any hand tool, hand power tool or hand power tool accessory. The scheme will run across all Wickes stores from now until 25 March.
The old tools handed in by customers will be donated to WorkAid, a charity that collects and refurbishes unwanted tools before sending them to vocational programs across Africa and the UK.
Simon King, managing director at Wickes, said: “WorkAid do a fantastic job of helping disadvantaged people learn the trade skills they need to start their own businesses, and we’re thrilled to be teaming up with them for our TradeIn event. We’re also excited to offer our customers such a fantastic discount across a great range of products – we’re constantly looking for new ways to better engage with our customers, and we hope that both out trade and DIY shoppers will come together to take advantage of this great offer.”
