What Car? launches online car buying service
New car research website What Car? has launched New Car Buyer Marketplace, an online car buying service connecting its 2.5 million unique monthly visitors with dealerships in their local area.
Built into the existing WhatCar.com website, the site is designed to let users see the best offers from local retailers on whichever model they are researching. If they decide they want to take up an offer, they can add options, change trim and alter finance preferences to get an accurate ‘live’ price. Once happy, they can either contact the retailer through the site or over the telephone to complete the purchase.
The New Car Buyer Marketplace allows retailers to apply their preferred discount – available to update live and as often as they like – to individual models, with those prices then passed on to readers. Buyers will be shown the ‘What Car? Target Price’ for that model.
The company said hundreds of dealers across the UK already signed up to New Car Buyer Marketplace and there are now more than a thousand new-car deals.
Steve Huntingford, What Car? editor, said: “What Car? has been helping people decide which car to buy for more than 40 years, and we know the new car industry and its customers as well as anyone. With New Car Buyer Marketplace we’re launching a product that works in the interests of both buyers and retailers, creating local leads and delivering cars at the ‘What Car? Target Price’ to our users – with maximum ease of transaction for both parties.”
