WH Smith opens eighth store in Qatar’s Hamad International Airport

WH Smith has opened its eighth store at the new Hamad International Airport in Qatar.

The $15 billion airport development is set to become one of the largest and busiest in the Middle East, with its 600,000 square metre terminal and 30 million annual passenger capacity.

The store features the latest WH Smith design in fixtures and fittings with six airside and two landside units, ranging in size from 28 square metres to 195 square metres, providing a total of 827 square metres of retail space.

WH Smith has also set up a new regional office in Qatar to manage the airport operation and to support the retailer’s franchisee network throughout the Middle East.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

WH Smith international director Louis de Bourgoing said: “We are delighted to have opened eight stores in the magnificent Hamad International Airport. It is a fascinating challenge to accommodate the needs of such a diverse customer base passing through this world-leading airport. Our investment in both our stores and a regional office shows our commitment to one of the fastest growing regions of the world. ”
