WH Smith launches new stores in Muscat International Airport
WH Smith has launched seven new stores in Oman at Muscat International Airport’s new terminal.
Working in partnership with Ajit Khimji Group, the retailer has opened five WH Smith News Books and Convenience outlets, a landside convenience store called Express by WH Smith and a dedicated souvenir store called Souq of Oman.
The new stores take WH Smith’s Middle Eastern expansion one step further following openings at airports in UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
The Express by WH Smith store is the first of its format to open in the Middle East and will have a product offering aimed at landside customers.
WH Smith International chairman Louis de Bourgoing said: “We are proud to open seven stores in the fantastic new Muscat airport. We have been innovative in terms of our product offering, sense of place and store environment – and these latest store openings strengthen our 10 year partnership with the Ajit Khimji Group.”
WH Smith operates around 1,400 stores worldwide including 280 airport stores in 74 airports.
