WH Smith full year results to be in line with expectations

Book and stationery retailer WH Smith has said its results for the year to 31 August are likely to be in line with expectations after seeing a strong performance from its travel business.

In a pre-close trading update, the retailer said the travel business is continuing to perform well with good sales across all channels. It said its new store opening programme both in the UK and overseas is on track and that customers are responding well to its recently opened stores in Alicante airport in Spain.

Meanwhile, WH Smith revealed that second half profits for its high street store business are also in line with expectations.
