WH Smith expands further into Malaysia
Book and stationery retailer WH Smith has entered Malaysia’s Southern Corridor with the opening of three stores at Senai International Airport.
The airport is situated in the Johor state, which is the southern-most state of Malaysia, neighbouring Singapore.
The retailer will operate a combined store area of over 900 square metres across the international and domestic departure lounges, as well as a landside store.
The openings mean that WH Smith now has 11 Malaysian stores which are operated in partnership with Bison Consolidated Berhad.
The new stores offer local and international newspapers, magazines, books, digital products, souvenirs, snacks, drinks and a range of travel accessories.
WH Smith International chairman Louis de Bourgoing said: “We are delighted to be opening our first stores in Senai International Airport. The stores look fantastic and feedback from customers has been really positive. We very much look forward to continuing to work with our partner, Bison, and developing the WH Smith brand further in Malaysia.”
WH Smith operates more than 1,400 stores across the globe and its growing airport business has over 280 stores across 74 airports.
