WH Smith brings InMotion to Europe
WH Smith has opened its first InMotion consumer electronics store in Europe.
The shop at Spain’s Alicante-Elche Airport features a design similar to InMotion stores in the US.
It sells a wide range of digital accessories such as power banks, adaptors, headphones, portable speakers and products for the home. The shop also has a headphone bar where customers can test products with their own devices before making a purchase.
The store is staffed by a team of experts in the consumer electronics market, who have all participated in a dedicated InMotion training programme.
WH Smith acquired InMotion for $198 million in November 2018. At the time, the company said the acquisition would help accelerate growth in the digital accessories market outside of the US and would also offer a platform to launch WH Smith airport stores in the US.
Commenting on the InMotion opening, Phil McNally, WH Smith managing director for international, said: “The opening of our first InMotion store in Europe is a major step for us and demonstrates our ability to offer the InMotion brand to customers and landlords.
“We are keen to bring the unique capabilities of the InMotion brand in terms of product offer and customer service to a global audience. This exciting development marks the start of our expansion plans for the InMotion brand outside of the USA.”
