Westfield London shopper numbers up during Games

Westfield has announced that Westfield Stratford City is not its only shopping centre to benefit from the Olympic Games as traffic at Westfield London rose last week compared to the previous non-Games week.

A Westfield spokesperson said: “The UK’s number one shopping centre is continuing to attract high shopper numbers despite the majority of sporting events occurring in the East End and huge crowds visiting our other centre Westfield Stratford City.

“Luxury shopping at Westfield London is holding up relatively well and attracts a high value shopper and tourist. The Games provides extraordinary exposure for Westfield’s retailers on the global stage and our two London centres together will attract over 60 million customers in 2012 and will deliver sales of around £2 billion.”

Westfield has increased trading hours across its centres by up to 30% during the Games and has introduced new customer services including free Wi-Fi, free mobile phone charging, handsfree shopping and hotel and international delivery in advance of the Games.
