Weird Fish, the lifestyle clothing brand, has announced two new appointments within its senior management team.
Matthew Janes has been appointed as head of brand communications. Janes spent five years as head of marketing and press at Supergroup before becoming head of creative marketing services at New Look Retail Group.
In a second appointment, Bethany Phillips has joined the company as head of design. A former head of design at White Stuff and Saltwater, she has also developed ranges for a number large retailers including Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and Next.
In 2010, managing director John Stockton led an MBO backed by Piper, the consumer brand specialist behind household names such as Boden. Last year, Weird Fish achieved a turnover £12 million.
Commenting on the appointments, Stockton said: “It is now the right time for us to bring in Matthew, a talented and creative marketeer with experience of growing ambitious brands, while Bethany’s appointment is critical to maintaining our product focus and developing a design-led culture. She will also help increase our womenswear ranges, which we expect to represent 50% of sales next year.”
