Waterstones to launch store at Glasgow’s Silverburn
Waterstones is to join the line-up at Hammerson’s Silverburn shopping destination in Glasgow this September.
The new store will be the shopping destination’s first ever dedicated bookshop.
Waterstones has taken a 6,000 square foot unit adjacent to New Look. The shop will offer a range of books, stationery and gift collections.
Designed by an in-house team, the store will span two floors and will include a section for local authors.
Founded in 1982, Waterstones now employs over 3,000 booksellers and has over 290 stores.
James Daunt, managing director of Waterstones, said: “Our Scottish bookshops have been enjoying extraordinary success these last few years, and we are delighted to add to their number. Silverburn is exactly the kind of vibrant shopping centre in which we thrive and we aim to give it an exceptional bookshop.”
The signing follows the recent opening of a Stack & Still pancake restaurant at Silverburn.
Iain Mitchell, UK commercial director at Hammerson, said: “Waterstones is a great example of a brand that delivers a really immersive in-store experience, and that’s exactly what we are looking for across our portfolio. I’m sure the new store, our first ever dedicated bookshop in Silverburn, will be a great addition to the destination.”
