Warm weather boosts footfall figures in London’s West End

New West End Company has reported that 2 million shoppers visited the West End during the first three days of the Easter weekend. This was a 4.1% increase on the Easter weekend in the previous year.

According to retailers, Spring collections and formalwear lines saw significant uplift as shoppers stocked up on summer wedding wardrobes while enjoying 25 degree temperatures.

Jace Tyrrell, New West End Company said, “Soaring temperatures this weekend gave visitor numbers in the West End a real boost – we saw a 4.1% rise on last year’s footfall numbers for the first three days of the break; with ‘Great Friday’ seeing a huge 18.8% leap in visitor numbers compared to Good Friday 2010.”

She added: “After this strong weekend, we anticipate that the Easter break, coupled with the four day Royal Wedding and May Bank Holiday break will give retailers a welcome lift in April sales figures.”

New West End Company represents 600 retailers on Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street.
