US sales growth driven by bigger basket size
Wal-Mart is sticking to modest forecasts for same store sales growth in the US for April.
At the half-way point of the month, the world’s bigest retailer said comparative sales for the US are estimated to be running at between 0 and 2 per cent growth.
In the week to April 14, general merchandise comparative sales growth were stronger than for food. Average baskes size rather than higher customer traffic was the main driver of growth.
