Wal-Mart boost for George brand

US roll out for womenswear range
September 17 2002
Wal-Mart is rolling out the UK-originated George clothing brand to all its US stores.

Following suiccessful trials over the past year, all Wal-Mart discount stores and Supercenters in the US will offer the latest range of George womenswear, which is focused in ‘career wear’ clothing suitable for the office.
The brand was created for Asda by George Davies and acquired by Wal-Mart as part of its takeover of Asda three years ago.
Celia Clancy, senior vice president and general merchandising manager of womens’ and childrens’ apparel for Wal-Mart Stores said: “The George brand has had phenomenal success providing department store fashion at incredible savings to our European ASDA customers. We are very excited to offer our US customers this fashionable career wear that reflects high quality, great value and styling.”
The George menswear range will be available in more than 2,000 Wal-Mart stores be the end this year.
