Waitrose’s chip and pin system crashes

Customers are asked to sign for their purchases. The failure leaves Waitrose exposed to any fraudulent transactions.

A spokeswoman for Waitrose said “We did not want to inconvenience customers, we are working to get it fixed as quickly as possible.”
Ingenico and Wincor Nixdorf have been called in to reinstate the system.
