Waitrose to open 10 new convenience stores in and around London
Waitrose is to open 10 new Little Waitrose convenience stores in and around London next year. The move will create around 650 jobs which will range from shop assistant to management roles.
The new stores will follow the opening of Little Waitrose stores in Sidcup, Monument, East Putney and one additional location this year which will create 200 jobs.
A Waitrose spokesman told the Express: “Our growth has been outperforming the sector. We are in the biggest period of expansion in the company’s history. Little Waitrose has enabled us to be flexible. We have the traditional big stores and the small ones mean we can open on high streets which enable us to become accessible to more people.”
Waitrose now has 37 convenience stores including outlets in Birmingham, Ipswich and Newcastle.
Earlier this year, Waitrose opened the first ‘Little Waitrose at John Lewis’ shop at the John Lewis department store in Watford.
