Waitrose sweeps the board at International Cheese Awards
Waitrose has been named as Supreme Retailer at the 118th International Cheese Awards after winning 26 gold medals, more than any other supermarket, across a number of different categories.
This is the second year that Waitrose has won the Supreme Retailer title at the awards, which are judged by 200 experts from around the world.
Gold winners for Waitrose included cheeses such as Essential Waitrose Farmhouse Cheddar, Waitrose Cropwell Bishop White Stilton and From Waitrose Goats Gouda, as well as a yogurt and a cream.
In addition, Waitrose cheese buyer Chris Dawson was made a member of the Guilde de fromage de Saint Uguzon, an international body of cheese experts which works to promote the dairy industry and dairy products across the world.
Dawson said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been named Supreme Retailer at the International Cheese Awards with 26 gold medals. It’s a great honour to receive such a prestigious award which highlights the quality, value and diversity of cheese that Waitrose has to offer its shoppers.”
