Waitrose receives 830 applications for 187 jobs at new store

Upmarket grocer Waitrose has reported receiving 830 applicants for the 187 jobs it created at its new store in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Recruitment for the Shipston Road store, which opened this week, has now come to a close and has resulted in 90% of the successful applicants living within a 15 mile radius of the new branch.

David Reid, the branch manager, said: “Stratford-upon-Avon is a vibrant, thriving town, which we have wanted to be part of for a very long time. We believe it’s important our new shop has a local identify and that starts with the people we employ. We are delighted to have had such a positive response to the job advertisements and be in a position to provide nearly 200 jobs for local residents.

“The feedback we have received so far suggests there is genuine excitement about our arrival and we are looking forward to playing our part in attracting shoppers to the area.”
