Waitrose opens first store in Heathfield
Waitrose has opened its first ever branch in Heathfield.
The retailer announced plans to replace the East Sussex town’s Vauxhall Garage in Station Road with a little Waitrose convenience shop in September 2014.
The new shop has created 60 new jobs.
More than 5,000 products will be available at the new branch, including the essential Waitrose range, freshly made baguettes, hot ready to eat snacking foods and wines.
Waitrose Heathfield store manager, Jeremy Barnard, said: “The opening is the realisation of a long-standing ambition to be in Heathfield and we are delighted to welcome our new customers. The investment we are making means we can help bring more shoppers to the town, create more choice and provide new jobs.”
Waitrose has confirmed it will share £6,000 and 100 staff working hours each year between local causes nominated by its customers through its Community Matters and Partner Volunteering schemes.
