Waitrose expands Forgotten Cuts range
Waitrose has announced that it is expanding its Forgotten Cuts range of meats to include offal products such as lamb heart, lamb and veal sweetbreads and veal tail.
The retailer claims it is the first UK supermarket to stock the products on its meat counters. The new range of lamb offal is being offered in-store this week, with veal offal arriving in early December.
The move follows on from Waitrose’s 2008 ‘Forgotten Cuts’ campaign where a range of lesser known meat products, including pigs’ trotters and beef skirt, was introduced to the supermarket’s shelves.
Thomas Richardson, Waitrose meat buyer said: “The success of the Forgotten Cuts range shows that customers are learning to love these cuts again, and we are keen to introduce an even wider range to the nation. We also have the interests of British agriculture at heart, and buying the whole carcass and not just choice cuts, ensures a better deal for farmers in the UK.”
