Chocolate retailer Thorntons has announced that its chairman John von Spreckelsen will be stepping down from his role within the next 12 months as he is planning to retire.
Thorntons said that it has already started the search for a suitable successor.
Von Spreckelsen joined Thorntons in 2006 having previously been CEO of Budgens and chairman of the Somerfield supermarket chain.
He is currently chairman of But SAS in France and a non-executive director of Roseholdco. Last month, he was appointed chairman of the Spanish supermarket chain Dinosol.
