Viyella calls in administrators

Womenswear retailer Viyella has gone into administration after more than 200 years in business.
The company, founded in 1784, have called in administrators today in a bid to try to save 500 jobs at its 40 shops and 64 concessions in bigger outlets as well as four clearance stores. In a statement, Viyella’s directors said: “Following an assessment of the current economic situation and the prospects for the future, the directors have reluctantly decided that they have no alternative but to place the business into administration.”
