Vivienne Westwood to open first New York store
Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is to open her first store in New York.
Due to open in the autumn, the new store will be Westwood’s third in the US, following openings in Los Angeles and Honolulu.
Situated in a French Beaux Arts townhouse at 14 East 55th Street, the retail space will cover three floors of the 15,000 square foot building with the remaining floors occupied by the company’s administrative offices and showroom.
The store will stock with ready-to-wear items from the designer’s Gold Label, Red Label, Anglomania and Man. It will also sell accessories, bridal designs and eveningwear from Gold Label Capsule as well as items from the Worlds End collection which are usually only stocked by Westwood’s boutique in London’s King’s Road.
Cristiano Minchio, chief executive of Vivienne Westwood’s US business, told WWD: “New York is an important step for us as a company, so we had to find a location which best represents our brand. As soon as we opened the Los Angeles flagship, we started looking at different areas in New York and found a great building with lots of history, which was once part of the St. Regis Hotel.”
