Vision Express reports strong profits and sales
Optical retailer Vision Express increased its operating profit by 11% in 2013 while achieving its third consecutive year of like-for-like sales growth.
Turnover grew by 6% as sales were boosted by the Vision Express Heston Blumenthal range, which last year became the most successful launch in the company’s history.
Vision Express chief executive Jonathan Lawson said: “It is very pleasing to report record sales and profit for 2013. The last 12 months have been an exciting time for Vision Express. As well as celebrating 25 years of trading, we have acquired a number of stores from Crown Eyeglass and Rayner & Keeler practices. I am also pleased to see that momentum has increased this year.
“In addition we also welcomed online contact lens experts Lenstore when they became part of the GrandVision group. We share many common values with www.lenstore.co.uk and a belief in the importance of a multi-channel offer for optical customers who are looking for unrivalled standards of service and quality.”
Never Miss a Retail Update! The acquisition of the 65 Rayner & Keeler outlets accelerated the company’s growth in the New Year by increasing the Vision Express network to 373 stores across the UK and Ireland.
Vision Express opened eight new stores in 2013 and has launched a further four stores this year, including shops in London’s Cheapside and Kings Road.
