Vision Express launches charitable foundation
Vision Express has announced partnerships with six sight-related charities across the UK and Ireland which will comprise its charitable foundation.
The move marks the one year milestone of the optical retailer’s healthcare drive called ‘Vision.Taken Seriously’.
Established this month, the Vision Express Charitable Foundation formalises partnerships in the UK with Alzheimer’s Research UK, the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, the International Glaucoma Association, the Macular Society, and the Stroke Association. In Ireland Vision Express will partner with Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
Vision Express said the partnerships will pave the way for specialist training for its optometrists in how to detect, manage and advise customers who present symptoms of any of the conditions during consultations.
Each organisation will also benefit from nationwide fundraising at specific points in the year, dovetailing with national awareness campaigns.
Vision Express chief executive Jonathan Lawson said: “As part of our commitment to ‘Vision. Taken Seriously’, and as a responsible and caring optical retailer, we’re delighted to be expanding our charity support to partner with a selection of healthcare charities which have touched the lives of Vision Express customers and teams.
“We look forward to bringing them to the heart of the customer experience, helping raise awareness of these conditions, providing support to those affected and driving donations through in-store and company-wide initiatives.”
