GENERAL MERCHANDISE NEWS

Vision Express acquires Conlons Opticians

Optical retailer Vision Express has acquired Conlons Opticians to bring its total number of stores in the UK & Ireland to 389 by the end of 2014.

The acquisition includes 19 Conlons stores in the North West of England and Scotland. While ten will trade from their current locations with their existing teams under the Vision Express brand, nine will relocate to the nearest Vision Express stores.

Vision Express chief executive Jonathan Lawson said: “I am delighted that we have been able to take this opportunity to expand the reach of the Vision Express brand and we look forward to welcoming our new customers and colleagues.”

The announcement follows a sustained growth period for Vision Express, with 2013 trading results showing a third consecutive year of increased sales.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

During the past year, Vision Express has celebrated 25 years of trading, acquired stores from the Crown Eyeglass and Rayner & Keeler practices, and brought online retailer Lenstore.co.uk within its owner Grand Vision’s business.
