Virgin Retail recruits former HMV director
Simon Douglas joins Megastore operator
Virgin Retail has appointed former HMV director Simon Douglas to the post of executive director (retail).
In a move which the Virgin Megastore operator said will reinforce its position in the music, games and DVD retailing sector, Douglas will co-ordinate all Virgin Retail’s customer facing activity.
As a senior director of HMV, Douglas was responsible for the music retailer’s UK and European store portfolio, helping to develop the current store format and product offering.
John Jackson. executive chairman of Virgin Retail, said: “In an ever-increasing competitive trading environment like ours it’s vital that Virgin Retail continues to be a major force going forward in our specialist sector.
“I’m very excited that Simon is joining the team here. His experience and his energy are going to make a major difference to Virgin Megastores.”
