UPS launches click & collect delivery service in the UK
Delivery company UPS has launched UPS Access Point – a new service which an enables customers to collect their parcels from a network of local convenience stores, petrol stations and newsagents.
Initially operating across a network of 600 “carefully selected” stores, the service will be rolled out to 1,500 outlets by June with the aim of increasing the network to 4,000 stores within the next two to three years.
While UPS will continue to deliver to customers’ homes, the new service will offer an alternative for shoppers who are not always home to receive parcels. It will also target retailers who will use the service to offer Click & Collect services to their customers.
The launch follows the UPS acquisition of Belgian company Kiala which has a network of more than 6,500 retail locations in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain. UPS is now deploying the model in the UK, with plans to extend it to Germany later this year.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Joe Mozzali, vice president of strategy, UPS Europe, said: “UPS Access Point in the UK combines Kiala’s powerful technology platform and the integrated transport network of the world’s largest package delivery company to provide convenient, reliable B2C delivery solutions and the very best customer service.
“The B2C sector is and will continue to be a powerful growth area. We are committed to offering our customers the solutions they want, whether they are retailers trading over the internet or busy consumers looking for convenient delivery options. UPS Access Point brings UPS’ renowed quality and reliability to a new, cross-border consumer-delivery concept.”
