Uniqlo to open at Polygone Riviera
Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo is to open its first store on the French Riviera at the new Polygone Riviera development in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Due to open in October, the 150-store scheme will be the first open-air shopping centre in France.
A joint venture between Unibail-Rodamco and Socri, Polygone Riviera will be divided into the four districts of Quartier des Saveurs, Promenade des Palmiers, Quartier des Arcades and The Designer Gallery.
Uniqlo is taking a 1,200 square metre unit in the centre’s The Designer Gallery district, which will be anchored by Le Printemps department store. Le Printemps was one of the first retailers to sign to Polygone Riviera, taking 9,000 square metres, the largest space in the centre.
The store will be Uniqlo’s ninth in France.
Eric Houviez, director of development/European projects for Unibail-Rodamco, said: “With visionary creativity and design at its heart, Uniqlo is the perfect match for The Designer Gallery at Polygone Riviera. We are all very proud of the concept, layout and carefully curated tenant mix at the centre, which is set to bring a chic and stylish shopping environment never seen before on the French Riviera, or anywhere else in Europe.“
International and local brands that have committed to taking space at Polygone Riviera’s Quartier des Arcades include Sephora, Suncoo, Mauboussin, American Vintage, Eleven Paris, Massimo Dutti, Finsbury, &Other Stories and COS.
Meanwhile, Promenade des Palmiers – the lifestyle district – will house 42 popular brands including Superdry’s largest store in the South of France, Zara, Pull&Bear, Bershka and Forever 21.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view contemporary art from both French and international artists, including Daniel Buren, Anthony Gormley, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Pascale Marthine Tayou and César. This will be overseen Jérôme Sans, art curator and co-founder of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, who has been appointed by Polygone Riviera as artistic director.
