Uniqlo promotes Larry Meyer to head up US business
Uniqlo, the Fast Retailing owned clothing brand, has promoted Larry Meyer as the chief executive of its business in the United States.
Having joined Uniqlo as chief operating officer in January 2013, Meyer will oversee the day-to-day operations of the brand in his new role and will also be responsible for the ongoing development of Uniqlo’s retail footprint across the US.
Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and chief executive of Fast Retailing, said: “Larry’s steadfast leadership has been a tremendous asset to the company and a key component to our successful growth this year. Building a US-based executive team is a very important step in the next phase of our expansion in the United States, and his promotion is a logical step.”
Uniqlo has recently opened ten new stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and San Francisco, as well as a pop-up shop in New York’s Union Square subway station. Uniqlo currently operates 17 US stores.
