Uniqlo chooses Berlin for second German store

Uniqlo owner Fast Retailing has revealed that the Japanese clothing brand will open a new store in Berlin this autumn as part of plans to expand its presence in Germany and Europe.

The store will be Uniqlo’s second outlet in the German market and will be situated in Leipziger Platz Quartier, the newly developed shopping area between Potsdamer Platz and Leipziger Platz.

With a total sales floor area of approximately 1,600 square metres, the store will be spread across two levels and will stock the brand’s full line of clothing for men, women and children.

Uniqlo first entered the German market in April 2014 with the opening of a flagship store on Berlin’s popular Tauentzienstrasse shopping mile.

Berndt Hauptkorn, Fast Retailing Group officer and chief executive of Uniqlo Europe, said: “Our new store at Leipziger Platz is a second and important step for our expansion in Berlin. We are pleased with our success so far in Berlin, which marks the beginning of our aim to grow our presence further in Germany and the larger German speaking region.”
